A bit about me

Body Inner World Physiology (4)_edited_edited_edited.jpg

I'm Brendan, author of Beyond The Pale. I plan to completely change the way the world looks at mental illness.

Years ago, I made a drastic change to my diet. As I had hoped, my physical health improved. A nice surprise, though, was that I was no longer so terribly pale. As it would happen, there were many more surprises that were far harder to understand than my better complexion. My mental health drastically improved as well; I was no longer chronically anxious, and my mild feelings of gender dysphoria suddenly went away. Stranger still, I even stopped resonating with the values that previously made me a bit of a "woke" social justice warrior as I became less anxious. My outlook on life and my views of the world suddenly changed for what seemed like no other reason than an improvement in my health.

In the years following, I became obsessed as I noticed that my past self was clearly not the only one who fit the pattern of plant-based, pale, anxious, gender dysphoric, and woke. The common explanation is that discrimination and transphobia are responsible for the sky-high rates of mental illness, self-harm and suicide among people with gender dysphoria, but is that the whole story? Knowing full well how awful it is to suffer with mental illness, I researched and thought relentlessly to gain a better understanding and to identify the true causes.

With my new framework, where I understood mental health to be a reflection of physical health, I found myself able to make sense of diverse phenomena that stump world experts to this day. In my book, I outline why nightmares, sleep paralysis demons, panic attacks, hallucinations, dissociation, mass hysterias, postpartum depression, and more can be well understood in the context of a lack of blood and oxygen.

You can join me by picking up a copy of my first book, Beyond The Pale, where I discuss Anemia: The Visible Yet Unseen Cause of Mental Illness and Gender Dysphoria.
